Rules in the Nature Reserve at the Great Eutin Lake
For safe paddling in harmony with wildlife and plant life, please follow these mandatory rules of conduct
Experience nature responsibly
Enjoy your adventure on the water while protecting wildlife and the environment. Follow these simple rules for a safe and respectful experience:
Use designated landing spots
Please use only the designated entry and exit points to avoid damaging the vegetation along the shore.
Keep your distance
Please keep your distance from reed beds, other shoreline areas, and shoreline vegetation. Do not enter the reeds and try to stay at least 300 meters away from waterfowl.
Outside of the access points to landing spots, keep at least 50 meters between your boat and the shoreline vegetation.
Protect habitats
Do not approach reed belts or dense shoreline vegetation from the land either. Use only existing paths to reach the shore and return. Be careful not to destroy any habitats.
Keep noise down
Please avoid loud music and inappropriate behavior.
Wildlife observation
Please keep your distance when observing or photographing. Wildlife and plants are sensitive to disturbance. Water birds can be partially flightless during molting and are easily stressed if approached.
Guidelines for Paddling at the Great Eutin Lake
North of Eutin’s city bay, west of the pedestrian bridge, begins the European protected area “Upper Schwentine Area.” To preserve its unique wildlife and plants, we ask all paddlers to follow the highlighted rules.
