For safe paddling in harmony with wildlife and nature
Enjoy your adventure on the water while protecting wildlife and the environment. Follow these simple rules for a safe and respectful experience:
To protect breeding and resting birds, as well as their habitats, please avoid the sensitive areas marked in red and yellow on the map. Reeds and floating bird nests are sensitive to wave action, so please paddle especially gently and carefully.
Please choose docking spots where you are sure not to cause any damage. Approach all docks slowly and as perpendicular as possible to the shoreline.
Please maintain a distance from reed beds, other densely vegetated shore areas, and shoreline shrubs. Do not enter the reeds and use only bays and gaps that are at least 20 meters wide. Avoid unnecessary noise and keep at least 100 meters away from bird congregations on the water.
Outside of the access points to bays and landing areas, keep at least 30 meters away from shoreline vegetation with your rowing boat.
Do not approach reed belts and dense shoreline vegetation from land. Use only existing paths to reach and return from the shore. Be sure not to damage any habitats.
Avoid loud music and inappropriate behavior.
Please keep your distance when observing or photographing. Wildlife and plants are sensitive to disturbances. Waterfowl can be temporarily flightless during molting and are easily stressed when approached.
Lake Schwerin is a valuable nature reserve that deserves special protection. To preserve its unique wildlife and plant life, we ask all paddlers to follow these rules. The areas marked in red are strictly protected nature reserves and must not be entered under any circumstances – please avoid these areas by a wide margin (red-and-white striped buoys provide guidance). Paddling should be avoided in the yellow-marked zones, especially from July 15th to September 30th. Paddling is allowed and safe in the blue-marked zones.
