Practical information at KAYAKOMAT in Joinville-le-Pont


· Access the station in around ten minutes on foot from Joinville-le-Pont RER A station.

· You will find parking lots around the Kayakomat.

· Access to the river is by going down the steps just after the bridge 20 meters from the kayak and paddle station from where you will walk.

· Wearing a life jacket is mandatory. Respect the regulations in force and follow the signs, respect other boats (oars, paddle boats, motorized or non-motorized boats, etc.).

· Navigate along the banks for your safety, during the day, be attentive to respecting local residents, flora and animal species.

· Navigate without nuisance on the arm of the river called: Le petit bras de Polangis, to avoid inconvenience to local residents and the marine population.

· Avoid the Joinville-le-Pont dam area.

· During flood periods, navigation is prohibited. Check the weather and flood warnings.

Itinerary:

Joinville is the ideal place for paddle beginners living in Paris or its nearby suburbs. The setting is simply idyllic. The intimacy of the Polangis canal, the bucolic calm of Fanac Island, the famous tavern “Chez Gégène” and the green islands of Nogent and Bry-sur-Marne add to its charm.

Start your visit with Fanac Island. Cross the small bridge opposite to enter the Polangis canal. The setting is magnificent, with charming houses, gardens and private pontoons, all in absolute tranquility.

At the exit of the canal, either: for a short walk, turn left on the Marne (in the direction of the current) to return to Fanac Island and the starting point. Otherwise, head right towards Nogent, you will be greeted by the emblematic sign of “Chez Gégène” on the left bank, present since the 1920s.

Continue your walk along the right bank to the port of Nogent-sur-Marne, then explore the three islands that await you. The Isle of Wolves, home to a rich and diverse fauna, with gray herons, kingfishers, squirrels, tawny owls, blond hedgehogs and mute swans.

Book Online

Choose one of our options: single kayak, tandem kayak, or SUP. Rentals start at a minimum of 2 hours up to several days for longer adventures. You’ll receive a confirmation email with further instructions.

On the day of your booking, you will receive a code via email and SMS. Arrive at your KAYAKOMAT and unlock your gear. Inside you’ll find everything you need: PFD, paddles and sprayskirts. If it’s your first time out on the water, make sure you double check our safety tips.
