Kayaking is a fun and varied activity that is best enjoyed with family and friends. If you are a beginner, you can comfortably try both SUP paddling and kayaking close to the riverbank. Experienced paddlers can enjoy a longer trip upstream (east/right) towards Ladenburg on calm days.
Kayaking is also a great way to explore the surrounding area from the water instead of by bicycle or on foot. With our KAYAKOMAT in Mannheim, you have convenient 24/7 access to kayaks and SUPs directly at the Fernmeldeturm. After your tour, you can stop for a drink or something to eat at the nearby boathouse.

How to get the boats to the river
Use the trolley and walk approximately 50 metres towards the boathouse. You will need to cross the tram tracks and the cycle path. Please pay close attention to trams and cyclists.
Then carefully slide the boats down the grassy slope. You can then walk down the stairs to the river.
The pontoon is private property belonging to the rowing club. Please do not use it.
Afterwards, please return the trolley so that it is available for the next customers.
⚠️ Important Safety Information
The Neckar and the Rhine are federal waterways used by large commercial cargo vessels. If you are an inexperienced paddler, please do not paddle in these areas.
We recommend paddling immediately to the right/upstream, where there is no commercial shipping and you can enjoy a more relaxed and peaceful paddle.
Paddling at night is prohibited. Please only paddle between sunrise and sunset.

- Altneckarschleife / Neckarplatten – nature conservation area, approximately 5 km upstream (east/right)
- Ladenburg – historic old town, approximately 10 km upstream (east/right)
