With the sea to the west and the Hjeltefjord to the east, there are many great opportunities for great experiences. Paddling is a fun activity to do with friends and family. For beginners, it is easy to try SUP or kayaking here while staying close to the beach. Tips for kayaking around Tjeldstø
• short trips from the Lislevika bathing area in safe surroundings and in local fishing communities
• paddle south until you reach Straumesundet. Here you can turn right and have a nice trip via Alvheim to Nautnes, through the strait there and out back into the Hjeltefjord. You can also take a trip to the Coastal Museum by turning right in Straumesundet and paddling south into Hjeltefjorden for a bit. Here you will also pass some fish farms that are also important to keep your distance from.
Practical information about KAYAKOMAT Tjeldstø
• To get to us, it is 1 minute from the bus stop. If you are coming from Bergen, you must get off at Tjeldstøstraumen. Our machine is then located on the opposite side of the road.
• The machine is operated by Heggholmen Landhandel, which is 2 minutes away. Here you will find toilets, parking and it is possible to buy some food/snacks for the trip.
• If you are going on longer trips, please pay attention to safety zones around fish farms and oil/gas terminals.
