Paddling is a great activity to share with friends and family. If you are a beginner it is easy to try a SUP or a kayak while staying close to land in the bays nearest us. With a little more experience you can follow the coast north on a calm day, and those truly at home in a kayak can head out towards Lagnö and the Själbottna nature reserve.

Tips for your paddle at Östanå

• Two hours: explore the sheltered bays closest to the station. A short way back if the wind turns, perfect for a first time or with children.
• Half a day: follow the coast north, bring coffee and take a break on a rock. Stay inside the islands and you avoid the more open water.
• Full day: head for Lagnö, which reaches more than ten kilometres out from Ljusterö and counts among the finest paddling waters here.
• After paddling: Restaurang Vin & Vänner is a five minute walk away, in the 1792 granary of Östanå Manor.
• Make a weekend of it: stay overnight with us at Östanå Havscamp in your motorhome or caravan, with the kayak right outside.

• Address: Östanåvägen 24, 184 93 Åkersberga, Sweden. Navigate to 59.555144, 18.585524 (Waze and Google Maps). From Stockholm take road 276. Free parking on site. Code for the gates will come in the mail after payment.
• By public transport: take the bus to the Östanå ferry landing or Östanå Allé. From the stop it is a bit of a walk down to the station.
• Toilets and a shower are available in the service house on site.
• Launching from the beach, a short carry from the station. Easy to get in and out, also with a SUP or if you are paddling for the first time.
• Mind the ferry: the Ljusterö route runs frequently and the crossing is only 1,100 metres. Never cross in front of a moving ferry and keep a wide margin.
