Important Area Knowledge
You are paddling along the Baltic Sea coast. Please keep the following in mind:
- Wind conditions: Paddling against unexpected or suddenly rising winds can be very exhausting. Don't underestimate how strenuous this might become, especially toward the end of your tour.
- Sea conditions: After wind comes waves—keep an eye on any changes in the water surface and start heading back to the station if waves begin to build up.
- Weather conditions: If a thunderstorm is starting or the weather is changing unpredictably, avoid paddling too far into open water. Instead, cautiously make your way back along the shore toward the station.
- Flora & Fauna: This coastal area is a valuable habitat for many animal species, especially water birds. Please move mindfully and respectfully to avoid unnecessary disturbance and protect nature.
Local Tips for Paddling at Wohlenberger Wiek
On your paddling tour along Wohlenberger Wiek, you’ll find several easily accessible stops that offer a welcome break. Here, you can go ashore, cool off with a swim, or grab a snack—ranging from ice cream to refreshing drinks. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a breather, recharge, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere before continuing your tour:
If you paddle westward, your tour takes you along the impressive cliffs toward Tarnewitzer Huk and the Weiße Wiek Marina, where numerous restaurants and cafés invite you to take a break. A special recommendation: fresh fish sandwiches straight from the fisherman. The one-way paddling time is about 60 minutes.
During breaks, please remember to secure your kayak or SUP, along with paddles, life jackets, and other equipment, and ideally keep an eye on them.
Parking:
Bike racks on the beach and paid parking spaces for cars (50mtrs) and campers (300mtrs) are available on the opposite side of the street.
