Local tips for kayaking in Piteå

• Paddle south through the canal. At the south side of the canal you can paddle alongside the bays in Inre Fjärden which is part of the Piteå river.
• Paddle north around Fårön island. Show consideration for the geese here during nesting season, make sure to not disturb them. In Vargviken bay you'll find Fårön stugby, a campsite with cabins and a kiosk. Be aware that during summer it is usually forbidden to light a campfire.
• Pay attention to areas designated to protect the birdlife, with no access allowed in spring and part of the summer. These are for example found further out, after Renön island and Moön island, as well as on the south side of the canal after the Stor-Sandskäret island and Bondön island. • Communal toilets and showers available next to the harbor area of OK Marina. Here, you can also leave your trash or fill up with fresh water. Open when the kiosk is open.
