Find your route on the river
Whether it's your first time in a kayak or you've paddled before, there's a route that's right for you. A natural first stop is to round Fästningsholmen and Tjuvholmen – a manageable outing with new perspectives on Bohus Fortress and Kungälv from the water. Allow around 1.5 to 2 hours. If you'd like to venture further, the river towards the sea offers great highlights – Munkholmen, the ruin of Ragnhildsholmen and St Halvard's Church are just a few gems en route. Paddling downstream towards the sea is easier than upstream – worth knowing when planning how far you want to go.
Easy to get started
You'll find KAYAKOMAT Kungälv at Västra Strandgatan 4, with parking on site. Nearest bus stop is Kexbageriet, a five-minute walk away. From Kungälv travel centre it's around 15 minutes on foot.
You can launch from the jetty below the station, or head towards the fence from the Kex factory and reach the water between the fence and the large concrete pipe. The river has a current, so stay close to the bank near Bohusbron and Fars Hatt.
